The Characterization of Slovinky Sludge Bed Material Using Spectroscopic Methods

Slovakia has a long and distinguished tradition in the field of mining processing raw materials such as gold, silver, copper, iron ores. In medieval times, area that is today’s was one most important producers processors sulfide ore, which processed specifically by flotation. Flotation waste remains fine-grained are deposited sludge beds after mineral activities. also contains residues heavy metals, can pose potential risk to surrounding environment. The areas with this material (heaps beds) have been classified an environmental threat require regular monitoring government bodies. Slovinky bed these areas. aim work therefore investigate selected physico-chemical properties flotation using spectroscopic methods (XPS, XRF, AAS). Our findings showed concentrations Cu, Zn, Ni exceeded limits set relevant legislation several fold even two decades end Although alkaline, our results could be source metals. obtained data help protection restoration affected ore.
